HOTT MT 2014 cARTel stage
HOTT MT (Hour Of The Time Majesty Twelve) is a LA-based collective that live and work in the industrial section of Chinatown.
Musically the group consider Thai pop / folk and shoegaze as their main sonic influences. LA Weekly’s Chris Ziegler comments, “HOTT MT feed pop melodies in the tradition of Seattle label Sublime Frequencies through a Creation Records fog machine.” The group also considers the work of Joseph Campbell and William Cooper to be integral to their philosophy and lyrical content; the latter being the host of the Hour Of The Time radio show, which inspired the collectives’ name.
The band is best known for their impromptu collaboration on the song & video “Never Hate Again” with Flaming Lips’ front man Wayne Coyne. After finding Coyne’s address on google maps, the group traveled 20 hours by car to show up unannounced on his doorstep. The chance meeting has lead to a number of collaborations including the recent cover album of The Stone Roses debut.
Since then HOTT MT has opened for major acts such as The Flaming Lips, Bat for Lashes, Django Django, Wavves and Frightened Rabbit, as well as becoming Tony Clifton’s backing band.
